West Yorkshire Police and Crime Panel

Independent Co-opted Panel Members

We are looking to appoint two community-minded individuals to act as independent voices sitting alongside elected councillors from across West Yorkshire to scrutinise and support the Mayor for West Yorkshire and her Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime (DMPC), in relation to policing and crime matters.

The Panel is an integral part of the governance structures for policing and crime providing independent and constructive challenge of the work of the Mayor and DMPC.

This is an exciting opportunity for a member of the public with community based experience to apply their insight and skills to reviewing the strategic plans, the budget and performance of the Mayor and DMPC.

The term of appointment is for 3 years, starting in October 2021 and a small allowance is payable.

The appointees would be expected to attend a minimum of 12 scheduled meetings per year, plus other ad-hoc sub-panel meetings along with preparation time.  The Panel meetings are usually held on Friday mornings - 9am until 12.30 pm within Wakefield or other West Yorkshire venues.

Further information and an application form is available to download.

The closing date for applications is 9th September 2021 and it is hoped to undertake interviews on 21st or 22nd September 2021
